INTEGERS

Today I am going to teach you about INTEGERS. INTEGERS are any number that is a positive or negative number, a counting number. There are 4 different types of INTEGERS, they are multiply, divide, addition, and subtraction and I will teach you about them and their rules.

ADDITION

To do ADDITION,you need to do this:1.If the signs are the same then add and keep the sign of the bigger number.(If your smart you would think that 2 is bigger than -3, but 3 is bigger than 2 so you keep the sign negative.)2.If the signs are different then subtract and keep the sign of the bigger number.( again 2+(-3), 2 is bigger but 3 is the bigger number in this case.)That is how you do ADDITION. Try these: -4+8= ___ ,-6+-8= ___ .

SUBTRACTION

To do SUBTRACTION you need to do the one SUBTRACTION rule. Which is: when you have a SUBTRACTION problem you want to change it to addition by doing plus the opposite of the second number.(What that means is that if you have 3-(-3) you change the last 2 SUBTRACTIONS, or negatives to positives, if you had 3-(-3) you would change it to 3+(+3) ) After that just repeat the addition rules. Try these: -4-(-5)=___ , 3-(-8)=___ .

MULTIPLY/DIVIDE

To MULTIPLY OR DIVIDE you need to follow 2 main rules: 1. If the signs are the same, then the answer is positive. 2. If the signs are different then the answer is negative, pretty easy, right? To get the answer that is positive or negative just ignore the signs and do the problem.(if you have 4.-6 you evaluate the signs first.It comes to a -. Then just do the problem(4.6) this comes to 24 add the sign and the answer together and get a -24 as your answer. Try these: -5.-2=___ , 4/-6=___ .
